Early life and career Michele Watley was born in Durham, North Carolina. Watley has a brother and a sister. Her sister is Jody Watley. When Watley was a toddler, her family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, followed by Chicago, Illinois.[1] Her grandfather and father were a ministers.[1][6][7] Her parents divorced when she was twelve, and Watley and her sister, Jody, moved to California.
